Clogged air filters– a clogged air filter can restrict the airflow and cause the furnace unit to suffocate.
Broken thermostat or a thermostat whose batteries have died. If the thermostat cannot send signal to the heater, the heating unit will not turn on and produce heat.
Dirty evaporator coil– if the evaporator coil is clogged, the air flow is restricted. This is a common issue for the air conditioner as well.
Dirt or debris in the blower wheel.

Circuit board– the circuit board acts the brain of the heating unit. Multiple sensitive connections and circuits are located at the circuit board. Dust and vibration can cause wear on the circuitry which can cause system failure or inconsistent operation.
